The fast food company McDonald’s will temporarily close its US offices this week as it prepares to inform corporate employees of its layoffs as part of a restructuring company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
According to the media in question, the company notified US employees and some international employees in an internal email last week. He asked them to work from home Monday through Wednesday so he could make personnel decisions virtually, according to the report. It is not clear how many employees will be laid off.
“During the week of April 3, we will communicate key decisions regarding staffing roles and levels across the organization,” the Chicago-based firm said in the message seen by the Journal.
In the same pronouncement, it also asked its employees to cancel any meeting in person with suppliers or external companies.
As recalled, in January, McDonald’s had already announced its intention to restructure the company as part of an updated business strategy, which would entail layoffs in some areas, but also expansion in others.
To date, the franchise is present in 119 countries around the world and is divided into three segments that include the United States, international markets with operations, and those with a development license.
