SNI: Informality of mypes in the second quarter grew 0.9% compared to 2019

According to information from the Institute of Economic and Social Studies (IEES) of the National Society of Industries (SNI)During the second quarter of 2021, labor informality in micro and small companies (mypes) was 84.2%, which represents an increase of 0.9% compared to the second quarter of 2019, a year without a pandemic.

Likewise, the IEES highlighted that this percentage is lower than the second quarter of 2020 in 2,8%, a year in which, due to the pandemic and its effects on the productive sectors, the informality rate increased by 2.7% compared to 2019, totaling 86%.

“This high percentage of informality in micro and small companies it is especially serious because they represented, by 2020, 99.4% of the business fabric. This despite the fact that in that year they had a drop in 25.1% compared to 2019, that is to say, around 600,000 companies had to close ”, reported IEES.

Regarding employment, they announced that in the second quarter of 2021 “there is a recovery of 8.1% compared to a similar pre-pandemic period (…) it should be noted that a large part of these jobs are within the informality”.

Likewise, it reported that the exports of the mypes during 2020 concentrated only the 3,3% of the total exported value and with an amount of US $ 1,330 million, which is why they announced that it is important to promote the rescheduling of the debt of the mypes and the promotion of liquidity mechanisms such as factoring or the sale of 8-day commercial invoices.

He also noted that digitization it is important for businesses to reach new levels of productivity. However, he stated that they expect to generate some S / 50 million in business between MSMEs and purchasing public institutions.
