Some 40 social groups support the mobilizations against the labor reform and for decent pensions

The union majority has called mobilizations on December 1 in towns and cities of the Basque Country against labor and pension reforms, and for decent living conditions.

Near 40 agents and social movements “feminists, ecosocialists, young people, students, antimilitarists, independentistas and pensioners” from Euskal Herria have joined the mobilization day called for the December 1st by the unions ELA, LAB, ESK, Steilas, Etxalde, Hiru, CGT and CNT against labor and pension reforms, and for “a dignified life”.

All the groups have shown their willingness to join the demonstrations that will take place in the capitals of the Basque Country, and the mobilizations called in some thirty municipalities.

In a statement, the groups adhering to the call have affirmed that the health crisis caused by covid-19 has arrived “without having overcome the consequences of the 2008 crisis”But “it is not only being a health crisis” because “it has accelerated the multiple crises” that were going through and “the oppressions caused by the capitalist, heteropatriarchal and colonialist system have deepened even more.”

“The disastrous management of all the above has made it clear that the economic and political power centers have chosen to ignore the sustainability of life and impose decisions to maintain the accumulation of capital,” they said.

As they have stated, “instead of drawing lessons and initiating a profound change of course”, the forecasts for the coming months and years “make it clear that the decisions will continue along the same lines.” “From the conditionality and direction of the European funds, through the labor and pension reforms that are being debated these months in Madrid, to the budgetary, equality and social policies of our country”, he pointed out.

After claiming “work, pensions and a decent life” and opposing “labor and pension reforms”, they have claimed “sovereignty for a dignified life.”

“We are united by these basic demands. Measures for the recognition and distribution of all jobs are necessary, and it is also time to guarantee decent conditions for employment,” they pointed out.
