In two months, the management of the production table of the control and competitiveness agencies, promoted by the national government and the production sector, would represent a saving of 4,787,259 for these sectors, reported Julio José Prado, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, during the balance performed works.

Dialogues between the Government and the private sector will focus on nine productive tables that will work with the methodology of the Inter-American Development Bank

Prado assured that the savings correspond to the current reduction in rates and fees imposed by the National Agency for Sanitary Regulation, Control and Supervision (Arcsa), the Ecuadorian Standardization Service (INEN) and the Ecuadorian Accreditation Service (SAE), in procedures for the manufacturing sectors.

He explained, for example, that with Arcs the collection rates of 88 benchmark labs were reviewed, of which 67 had significant cost reductions and attention time optimization of up to 50%.

With Agrocalidad, on the other hand, with the outsourcing of efficiency tests, the times that used to last from six to twelve months have been reduced, so that the process is instantaneous, according to the user’s request. BPM certifications are also approved by Arcs, for registration snacks and cosmetics for veterinary use.

While with INEN, the certificate of not subject to control, which was issued by that institution and for which it was necessary to pay 247 USD, was eliminated. This elimination will generate $850,000 in direct savings for domestic businesses.

In addition, 421 out of 835 customs items from the Single Export Window were abolished, i.e. more than 50% of the total number, representing direct savings of more than 3 million dollars for various production sectors.

Prado also pointed out that with the Ecuadorian Accreditation Service (SAE), the time for accreditation of laboratories or inspection agencies has been reduced from seven to five months.

Follow-up visits were also reduced from three to just two to obtain accreditation for laboratories or inspection bodies, representing a savings of $720,000. In addition, his appointment lasted 143 days, now it will last only 25 days.

Likewise, the Ministry of Production, through the Undersecretariat for Quality, has strengthened subsequent controls. Previously, an average of 1,200 inspections were performed per year. Now more than 20,000 have been carried out, which represents an increase of 94%, according to the entity.

Regarding the results presented by Prado, Gabriela Uquillas, executive director of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (CEE), mentioned that the productive desks showed that working hand in hand with the public and private sectors is the right formula.

He emphasized that such actions build an environment of competitiveness and improvement of production.

“We will not stop, on behalf of the manufacturing sector and CEE, with the 134 unions that make it up, we will work every day to have a more competitive Ecuador, with more opportunities, that creates quality employment and that can serve citizens. ; united we are more productive,” Uquillas ratified.

For her part, the president of the National Federation of Industrial Chambers of Ecuador, María Paz Jervis, assured that polarization is deepening the gap.

“From the private sector, we are open to cooperation, not only with the public sector, but even with actors who are not traditionally on the same coast,” said the leader.

In the end, it was said that this productive table will continue to work on consolidating more achievements. In addition, the foreign trade table was inaugurated, and in the coming days the progress on the security and productivity table will be presented.
