MEF evaluates subsidizing the mortgage loans of families living in ravines

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contrerasreported that the Peruvian Government is considering subsidizing the interest rates applied to families located in ravines and emergency areas, so that they can access mortgage loans in safe areas of the city.

In a dialogue with TV Peru, the head of the MEF maintained that this and other measures are part of a prevention package with an emphasis on social housing, in addition to the periodic fiscal relaxation announced days ago for companies that operate in areas of huaicos.

“We are going to be very aggressive to promote social housing, give advantages on the side of good payer bonds. We are evaluating the possibility of giving interest rate subsidies for homeless people, citizens who live exposed to streams and overflows, can have housing in safe areas with basic services,” said the minister.

Likewise, Contreras Miranda assured that the Executive is preparing an emergency economic plan that will be the continuation of Con Punche Peru, aimed at meeting these urgent housing needs in the population.

“The housing deficit in Peru is very large, we are talking about more than 1 million who do not have a home or live in suboptimal conditions. We want to advance as much as possible,” he said.

Precisely, today the first package of beneficiaries of the S/500 Rental Bond has been published, and it is expected that both local and regional governments begin to design the list of victims as soon as possible.

MEF: extend extension of IR payments

On the other hand, Minister Alex Contreras specified that the postponement, for up to three months, of the declaration and payment of income tax in favor of the affected companies, could be extended if the emergency due to landslides does not abate.

“Once an emergency district has been declared, affected by these disasters, the declaration and payment of taxes are automatically extended for three months. We are evaluating whether this can continue if the situation becomes more complex,” signed the head of the MEF.
