Around 57 of the 60 ravines have been activated in Lima, affecting hundreds of houses and, above all, people who could not withstand the scourges of nature. In this context, in the capital, two people lost their lives after a huaico fell on the place where they lived. Added to this are the economic losses of the entrepreneurs, who have had to paralyze their activities. Others have lost their work instruments.
Faced with this desolate panorama, the president of the board of directors of Arequipa Box, María Pía Palacios, gave an encouraging message to businessmen, who have been harmed by the mudslides. “We have the tools to be able to accompany our clients,” she said, referring to the rescheduling and refinancing of loans.
“We have worked hand in hand with the Superintendency to to be able to reprogram the credits of clients affected by social conflicts”, held. He also added that entrepreneurs who have been harmed by natural disasters may have a solution, since “in Peru there is a law that allows financial institutions refinance the credits”.
In this sense, he estimated that, by the end of March, they would know how many of their clients were affected by the mudslides and, based on that information, they will be able to provide all the facilities to people who suffered a decline in their economy.
On the other hand, María Pía Palacios gave a hopeful message, within the framework of the celebration of the organization to which she belongs. “We must all collaborate to build a better Peru (…) always, from Caja Arequipa, we will be including more people, that is our job,” she said.
Regarding the goals for 2023, Palacios mentioned two more relevant plans: “Continue the digitization process and coverage through digital media; and also to continue with the patrimonial strengthening; that is, to look for new strategic partners that allow us to reach another level of growth”.
