Osinergmin: 106 massive power outages were recorded due to Cyclone Yaku

He Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin) is supervising the electricity, hydrocarbon and mining sectors after the emergency caused by Cyclone Yaku.

Thus, to date, there have been produced 106 power outages of massive reach, as well as damage to public lighting poles and aerial wiring, mainly in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Áncash, and the provinces of Lima, Ica and Nazca.

Piura is where the greatest electrical interruptions have occurred and Osinergmin verified the repair of affected structures and the restoration of service to 151,655 users in Morropón, Huancabamba, Ayabaca and the city of Piura.

While, in Lima, electric companies are carrying out actions to restore service to 3,500 citizens with homes in Santa Clara, Barbablanca, Huachipa, Lurigancho, Chosica, Chaclacayo and Carapongo. In the Carabayllo sector there are around 3,800 affected users.

On the other hand, in the hydrocarbons sector, Osinergmin detected five affected taps in the district of Trujillo, in La Libertad. At the close of the report, two had not yet resumed their operations, as they suffered damages due to the ingress of mud.

The fuel storage plants and gas cylinder bottling plants in Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Callao and areas of Lima, such as Cieneguilla and Pachacamac, have not registered damages to their facilities.

Regarding the mining sector, the seven tailings deposits of the units, located in the Rímac river basin, have not registered emergency situations and maintain their physical stability.
