73% of people in the world prefer flexible work after the pandemic, according to a survey

The pandemic COVID-19 accelerated the movement of the digital revolution and became the largest experiment in the history of the job.

According to a study carried out by The Work Trend Index in 31 countries, and with a sample of more than 30,000 respondents, 73% responded that they prefer the flexible work, that is to say, a hybrid between face-to-face and remote modality, which was described as inevitable. While 67% of employees want a greater amount of face-to-face work or collaboration for the post-pandemic.

The survey also highlighted that productivity remained the same or higher for many employees (82%) over the past year, but at high human cost. One in five respondents said their employer doesn’t care about work-life balance.

54% of those consulted expressed feeling overworked and 39% said they were exhausted.

The survey adds that generation Z, those between 18 and 25 years old, is the most affected, with 60% disagreement with remote work, since networking has become much more complicated since the switch to completely remote work , especially for those who entered or changed equipment during the pandemic.

“Ensuring that Gen Z has a sense of purpose and well-being is an urgent imperative in the shift to hybrid,” the report noted.

Finally, it was highlighted that the difficulty of networking is putting innovation at risk. The text stated that teams are more isolated in a world of digital work.

Thus, collaboration trends in Microsoft Teams and Outlook show that interactions with the immediate team, or close network, were strengthened with the shift to remote work. However, our interactions outside of that team, or distant networks, have diminished.

“Simply put, organizations became more isolated than they were before the pandemic. And although interactions with our nearby networks continue to be more frequent than before the pandemic, the trend shows that even these interactions with nearby teams have begun to decrease over time, “the research said.
