#CADEEjecutivos: “It is time to listen to each other more, avoid confrontations and polarization between Peruvians and work hand in hand for a better country”

CADE Executives, the most important business forum in the country, began its Bicentennial Edition with a promise: to listen to the diverse voices of the country and work together to build an inclusive, competitive and prosperous Peru. “Diverse voices, one Peru” is the slogan of the event, which takes place virtually and runs from November 16 to 18. It was inaugurated by Elena Conterno, President of IPAE Business Association, and Rosario Bazán, President of CADE Executives 2021.

The road to this best country, however, is not easy. The health and economic crisis generated by the pandemic; the polarization of Peruvian society; Political noise and constant bad decisions at the government level hit citizens, who do not receive quality basic services such as quality education, an efficient health system or decent employment opportunities that allow them to develop their life projects. As IPAE has been showing in the different communications invoking the authorities to maintain a coherent and transparent discourse in order to attract investment. Faced with such a complex panorama, it is time to be proactive and work together between the private sector and the authorities. This is one of the axes of CADE Executives.

“As IPAE Business Association, today we invoke all business leaders, civil society, the public sector, political parties, the media – the leaders of the north, the center, the south, the east. – to work together to promote the development of the country. It is time to listen to each other more, as well as to avoid confrontations and polarization between Peruvians; to leave behind the bad appointments, the double discourse and the threats to the institutionality; to put the State at the service of citizens, and not of political parties, unions or friends ”, stated Elena Conterno.

For her part, Rosario Bazán announced that this edition of CADE Executives will be different: diverse, inclusive and participatory. It will be a forum to listen to us, debate and propose meeting points on relevant issues such as economic reactivation, job creation, governance, democracy, education and health, to build the inclusive, prosperous and sustainable Peru that we all long for.

“In the current situation, the political, economic and social actors, each one in the role from which we have to act, we must resolve with a sense of urgency, the urgent priorities that negatively impact the quality of life of the population and the competitiveness of the productive sectors and the sustainability of the country, ”said Bazán. This commitment also involves the business community, whose unavoidable obligation is to respect the human and labor rights of its workers and transcend its financial objectives by combining the three vectors of sustainability: economic, social and environmental.

Just as the line was marked in CADE Executives 2020 in which “the bicentennial must be a moment of historical change in which dialogue at all levels prevails” and that as IPAE the proper functioning of the social market economy has been promoted , basic quality services, education, health and the strengthening of institutions.

How does Latin America receive its Bicentennial?

The first session of the business forum, entitled “How is Latin America two centuries after independence?”, Was led by historian Enrique Krauze (Mexico), General Director of Letras Libres and Editorial Clío and one of the main thinkers of Latin America. Jimena de la Quintana, a journalist specialized in economics and business, was the host of the session.

After explaining that the region has undergone similar historical processes and that the problems that Latin American societies face today are comparable to each other, the specialist stressed the importance of putting aside the polarizations that are being experienced in all societies in the region and starting to work together.

“Why don’t we put left and right geometries aside and talk about laws, freedoms, institutions and development. I hope that in Peru the institutions balance and dialogue with each other. I want to believe that this meeting of CADE Executives will be conducive to dialogue in good faith, ”said the historian.

In coincidence with the spaces for dialogue and consensus that IPAE Asociación Empresarial has been generating, Krauze guaranteed that “the key to the development and reconciliation of Peru is in debate and conversation in good faith.” As stated by #RUTAIPAE Participatory Democracy “A fundamental principle for the development of the country is to have a representative democracy, in which we have an adequate balance of powers, respect for freedom of the press and expression, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms. , institutionalized political parties and citizens involved in public affairs ”.

“Peru is much more admired in the world than Peruvians believe. Please believe in yourself, listen to yourselves, on all those who think differently. Take care of freedom, because it is like air: it is only appreciated when it is lost. But also take care of justice. Between freedom and justice is the key. Remember: good faith is the foundation of everything. If there is no good faith, what remains is confrontation and war ”, concluded the prominent historian.
