Government presented bill to finance economic recovery

The Executive Power presented this March 14 before the Congress of the republic the bill no. 4482/2022-PE that proposes the approval of different supplementary credits for more than S/8,232 million to finance more expenses in the framework of the reactivation of the family, regional and sectoral economy, as well as other authorizations that allow to attend the emergency by natural phenomena.

The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Alonso Contreras Miranda, explained that a large part of the financing is aimed at activating measures that are part of the three axes of reactivation and the Con Punche Peru plan.

According to the family economythe incorporation of more than S/2,013 million is requested to finance, among others, the delivery of food to more than 730,000 citizens in vulnerable situations (S/240 million), the generation of 50,000 temporary jobs (S/124 millions), and mass use of natural gas and access to LPG (S/350 million), among others.

For the reactivation axis of the regional economy, S/2,267 million would be allocated. Said financing will allow the execution of 962 investments of Optimization, Marginal Expansion, Rehabilitation and Replacement (IOARR) at the national level in the health and transportation functions for S/730 million.

Also the financing of 125 rapid execution investment projects for S/496 million in various regional and local governments, and the authorization to finance other rapid execution projects for up to S/504 million, which will be approved via Supreme Decree for those subnational governments that did not benefit from the measure.

For its part, the axis linked to sectoral reactivation allows the incorporation of S/225 million to complement sectoral measures to the devices already approved to promote agriculture and tourism, and to address citizen insecurity.

Minister Contreras indicated that a package of new initiatives is being evaluated to sustain the country’s economic recovery and meet the urgent needs of the population in the current context. “As MEF, we are always attentive to the evolution of the economic situation and we have to react quickly to an unexpected change in the economic context and particularly in an emergency context,” he said.
