Companies expect to hire fewer workers by mid-year

The net local employment outlook is located at 23%, seven percentage points less than what was seen in the first three months of 2023 and 11 percentage points below the same period in 2022.

Marco Nicoli, general director of ManpowerGroup Peru, said that there is also a higher cost of doing business in Latin America and our country “is no stranger to this trend”, which directly damages the labor market.

“However, even if employers are cautious, it does not mean they will stop hiring; on the contrary, according to the data analyzed here in our country and in other regions of the world, all industries and sectors report positive hiring intentions. “, he indicated.

What are the sectors most demanded by companies to hire workers?

The category of energy and public services is the most demanded by employers, with 44%. They are followed by communication services (38%); consumer goods and services (29%); manufacturing and industrial (28%); and transport, logistics and automotive (28%).

By regions, Piura leads with 48% the trend of hiring personnel towards the second quarter of the year, followed by Lima (29%), Lambayeque (27%) and Ucayali (25%).

And, by business size, micro and small companies are the most optimistic, having a ratio of 37%; while the big ones are last with 23%.
