This year, around 1.2 million taxpayers, between individuals and companies, will file the 2022 Annual Income Statement. Companies have had since January 2 of this year to carry out this process. In the case of natural persons, the virtual form 709, which is used to make the declaration, was only enabled on Monday, March 6.
“The day the form for natural persons was published, around 50,000 people filed their declaration that day, then it has been decreasing,” Cecilia Ayllón from Sunat’s Orientation and Service Management told La República. According to the latest official report from the institution, nearly 100,000 people have already declared their income.
Maturity according to RUC
The schedule, which is applicable to both natural and legal persons, establishes that the term for the 2022 income statement will begin to expire next Friday, March 24 and will last until April 11. This is based on the last digit of the RUC. Taxpayers whose RUC ends in 0 may file their return until March 24. While those whose final digit is 1 will be able to do so until Monday the 27th, and so on in correlative order (see infographic).
“In between we have Holy Week, which is the one that lengthens the maturities, but then it continues on Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th, which culminates with those who are good taxpayers,” says Ayllón.
Return and fractionation
The declaration is 100% virtual and is made through the personal APP or through the Sunat website. These platforms already have pre-filled information on taxpayers’ expenses and income. At the end of the process, if their expenses were greater than their withholdings, they can obtain a refund.
In this case, the Sunat Deposit the money in the beneficiary’s bank account within a period of less than 45 business days. While if the balance is in favor of the Sunat, that is, there is a debt, the taxpayer can divide it into up to 72 installments, provided that the monthly payments are not less than S/230 (5% the UIT).
