Carlos Vives Suárez, Chairman of the Board of Petroperuannounced that they already have all the permits for the gradual and progressive start of the New Talara Refinery (NRT)which would take place in the next three months, between May and June.
He specified that at the beginning of March the start-up of the conversion units began and that the deep conversion units will follow later.
“So far, everything has been surmountable within the stipulated deadlines, and it is expected that between May and June the plant will operate at 100 percent,” Vives said during a press conference with members of the Association of Foreign Press in Peru (APEP). ).
Similarly, between June and October, comprehensive guarantee tests will be carried out at 100% load of the entire refining complex, with the participation of the licensing companies and contractors (Técnicas Reunidas and Cobra).
The NRT would grant Petroperú an EBITDA of US$500 million in 2023, according to Cristina Fung, general manager of the company; in addition to greater profitability and competitiveness in the market.
Petroperu projects
Although Perupetro and Petroperú signed the license agreement for the exploitation of Block 192 For a term of 30 years, the start of operations would begin in the first quarter of 2024 due to the fact that the facility has been paralyzed since February 2020, and hard work is expected to resume production.
“Block 192 has reserves of 127 million barrels, so it is a priority for Petroperú to value this important resource,” Vives Suarez stressed. Likewise, he pointed out that the production of 10,500 barrels of crude oil per day is projected.
On the other hand, it was indicated that the preparation of a sustainability plan for the Norperuano Pipeline is underway, which will take into account social and operational components. “Hand in hand with the Executive, they have been working to close the gaps, which will significantly help improve the quality of life of the communities surrounding the Norperuano Pipeline,” he added.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy and Mines and Perupetro are coordinating the parameters for the incorporation of Petroperú in the lots in the northwest of the country, located in Talara, in order to strengthen the exploitation of the state company.
