The executive president of Indecopi, Julián Palacín Gutiérrez, informed the Transportation and Communications Commission of the Congress of the Republic of the actions carried out by the institution after the cessation of operations of the Viva Air company, which affected hundreds of passengers. In this sense, he proposed the formation of an inter-institutional working group to review the Civil Aeronautics Law (Law No. 27261).
This proposal was well received by the General Director of Civil Aeronautics, Donald Castillo, who welcomed Indecopi’s willingness to promote a positive change to the regulations for the benefit of all national and foreign passengers.
To date, 504 advisories have been provided to affected passengers on their rights in the air transportation service. Likewise, through WhatsApp Airport, available 24 hours a day, 286 passengers were served, and 68 claims were registered nationwide against Viva Air, reported the president of Indecopi.
