OSCE: participation in public purchases by companies led by women reached S/4,452 million in 2022

Amount represents 11% of what was awarded last year within the framework of the State Procurement Law. In the last 3 years, more than S/11,876 million were awarded to state providers.

Lto participation of the women-led businesses in public purchases it reached S/4,454 million during 2022which represents 11% of the S/40,353 million awarded last year within the framework of the State Procurement Law (LCE), reported the State Procurement Supervisory Body (OSCE).

The data was collected using the dashboard developed by the organization called “Participation of women in public purchases“; This tool provides quantitative information on the participation of women in public procurement, as natural persons and as companies formed and/or led by women, from the year 2020 to February 25, 2023.

According to the dashboard, available in the OSCE Business Intelligence System (CONOSCE) since its creation in 2020 until February 25 of the current year, state providers were awarded an accumulated total of S/11,876 million, obtaining a participation that oscillates between 11% and 12% of the total contracts signed under the LCE.

Regarding the geographical distribution, the central and southern regions of the country are those with the highest percentage of female participation in public purchases in the last three years (2020-2023), highlighting Junín with 14.2%; followed by the Cusco region with 13.8% and Puno with 13.2%. In the case of Lima, participation is 12.1%.

The largest amounts awarded to companies with a female predominance in local governments were: simplified awarding (S/1,359 million), followed by public bidding (S/1,155.5 million). Secondly, to the national government with direct contracting processes (S/1,314.3 million) and through public tender (S/1,150.4 million).

According to the OSCE, regarding the object of the contract, between 2020 and February 25, 2023, a total of S/5,162.1 million in goods were awarded; S/4,018.7 million in services and S/2,615 million in works.
