Manta ray, MANABI

Manta Port Terminal (TPM), the representative of the international port of Manta, presented a proposal to the Port Authority of Manta (APM) for the management of the fishing and cabotage port of this marine terminal Manabi, as acknowledged by Roberto Salazar, the president of the concessionaire company of the port’s international trade area.

At this point, the proposal has not received any type of approval from APM, said Salazar, who added that TPM’s intent is to try to create solutions or investments to improve the infrastructure and services of the Blanket Fishing and Cabotage Port.

Salazar also pointed out that this proposal does not imply any impact or change in the current rates for the fishing station, just as the disappearance of the Manta Port Authority will not.

Former APM authorities request by letter to meet with current authorities and learn about the future of the fishing and cabotage terminal

“We don’t have a definition yet; We are yet to assess the investment needs. What we have done is a proposal of interest to say that, as we have invested in the international terminal, we could do the same in the fishing terminal without affecting the rate and generation of services that the fishing sector requires,” answered Salazar, the consultation on how much TPM will invest in the improvement of the Manta fishing terminal.

A few days ago, the former directors of the Port Authority of Manta (APM) expressed their concern over the rumors that the fishing and cabotage terminal will also be given in the concession; therefore, through a public letter, they requested a meeting with the current officials of the Port of Manta.

The aim of this appointment is to hear from the current directors of APM the current legal, administrative and operational situation, as well as its immediate future and its articulation with the city.

About 106,515 transport units between vehicles and machines entered the port of Manta in 2022.

Regarding this meeting, Salazar said that it is interesting that the former directors know not only the proposal, but also what has been invested so far in the management of the international and cruise terminal in Manta.

“Simply, we are waiting for the first talks and meetings with APM to assess and determine (…) values, amounts and needs. We are always open to work through the port of Manta, but I repeat: it will depend solely on the APM authorities”, stated Salazar.
