This one On Wednesday, March 1, the Ecuadorian Electricity Corporation (Celec EP) asked the national electricity operator (Cenace) to declare the Sarapullo hydroelectric plant in commercial operation, of 49 MW (megawatts). This means you can start charging for your services now.

The request was sent after all the technical, administrative and legal conditions required by the Agency for Regulation and Control of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (ARC), the Auxiliary Ministry of Electric Power and Renewable Energy Sources and the operator Cenace have been met.

This plant, whose first use was the Toachi Pilatón hydroelectric plant (254.4 MW) and which is located on the western slope, completed the testing phase last June, and experimental work began in July.

From On October 18, continuous work began with the goal of energy contribution reliable during the dry season in hydropower plants located in the Amazon basin.

In that period, the central Sarapullo has already supplied approximately 50 gigawatt-hours to the National Interconnected System (SNI). This power plant exploits the energy potential of the Pilatón River and has three Francis-type generating units of 16.3 megawatts each, for a total installed capacity of 49 MW. Energy is delivered to SNI through the Alluriquín substation, owned by the Celec EP Transelectric business unit.

In the meantime, work on the assembly of the generating units of the Alluriquín power plant (204 MW) is progressing, in accordance with the newly established schedule.
