Osasuna beats Athletic (1-0) at El Sadar and takes advantage for the second leg of the Cup semifinals

Osasuna beat Athletic Club 1-0 in the sadar This Wednesday, March 1, at the match of first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals. Abde scored the only goal of the match in minute 47. In this way, the rojillo team will face the second leg with an advantage which will be held on April 4 in San Mamés.
Osasuna had the first chance of the match in minute 3 with a shot from Abde that went wide after hitting the ball on the back of Iñigo Martínez. Later, Athletic began to take over the match and generate danger in the rival goal. So, at minute 14, Iñaki Williams scored a goal, but did not go up on the scoreboard since the striker was offside when he received the ball. Six minutes later, Muniain fired wide after driving into the box after some great play.
In the last 25 minutes of the first half neither of the two teams generated clear scoring chances. Both fought each ball as if it were the last, but they went into the break without being able to score goals (0-0).
At the restart, Osasuna took two minutes to pierce the Athletic goal (1-0); after a punt abde he received the ball, left Vivian behind with a long self-pass, and with a cross shot from inside the area he beat goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala.
The goal gave the rojillo team wings and left the visitors confused. Valverde’s plan did not come out and he decided to make offensive changes. Raúl García and Nico Williams, two of the doubts until the last minute, jumped onto the pitch to give their team new variants. The result was not worth the Biscayans and they went up in the face of a few final minutes that were presumed to be very exciting.
The initiative was taken by Athletic. Osasuna suffered defending with the speed of the youngest of the Williams and the mobility of an experienced Raúl García. The chances came dropper. The rojiblancos had a clear chance at the last minute, but goalkeeper Sergio Herrera prevented Athletic’s goal after deflecting Guruzeta’s shot.
Finally, Athletic failed to deactivate Osasuna’s defensive framework and the Navarrese team won the first game of the Cup semifinals.
