Accumulated inflation to February reaches 8.64% in Metropolitan Lima

The downward trend would continue in the coming months, since accumulated inflation in January was 8.66% in the capital.

As of February 2023, the Consumer Price Index in Metropolitan Lima accumulates a 12-month growth of 8.64%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Information Technology (INEI). While at the monthly level it reached 0.29%along with January, is one of the lowest rates in 11 months.

Annual national inflation reached 8.99% and only in the month of February it stands at 0.43%. It should be noted that the first two months of the year have been affected by the social upheaval that led to roadblocks in different parts of the country, this caused a lack of food supply as well as its price rise.

“Almost certainly, annual rates will drop in these two months, and at the end of April they would already be significantly below 8%. The Central Reserve Bank (BCRP) interest rate would not go up any more,” said economist Juan Carlos Odar, about the results of this indicator. The BCR is scheduled to evaluate the monetary program this Thursday, March 9.
