For his part, Luis Fernando Helguero, head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), during the presentation, indicated that general exports last year reached US$63,193 million and represented more than 26% of the national GDP. In addition, by 2023 it is estimated to reach US$64,000 million in exports.
“As a goal for 2023, the sector estimates a conservative scenario, that total exports for that year will be greater than US$64,000 million,” said Helguero.
The main agricultural export regions during 2022 were La Libertad (US$1,955 million), Ica (US$1,594 million), Piura (US$1,283 million) and Lambayeque (US$877 million). On the other hand, the regions that grew the most were Ucayali (+49%), Amazonas (47%), San Martín (+30%) and Cajamarca (US$533 million).
The main products exported were fresh blueberries, which reached US$1,366 million (+15%) and whose destination was China and Taiwan; fresh grapes, which reached US$1,362 million (+9%) and were taken to Greece, Sweden and Qatar. Unroasted coffee also stands out, which totaled US$1,231 million (+61%) and was shipped to Japan, the Nordic countries and China. For their part, fresh avocados totaled US$895 million and were sent to countries such as South Korea, Thailand, Bolivia, Colombia, Lebanon, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
In total, 2,734 companies have exported 660 tariff items to 133 markets. 69% of these companies are SMEs, reported PromPerú.
