CAF obtains a profit of 55 million in 2022, 38% less than in 2021

The Gipuzkoan group CAF obtained a net profit of 55 million euros in 2022, which means a drop of 38% compared to the result of the previous year, which the company attributes to inflation and a shortage of components.
The company has published its annual results this Friday, which include a “relevant” growth in saleswith a “historic level of hiring”which has not prevented the economic context, especially inflation, from affecting its benefits.
CAF indicates, in the document sent to the CNMV, that inflation has meant salary increases and of the cost of raw materialsin addition to a “very significant increase in the price of the energy cost“, which is 250% compared to 2021.
sales in the railway sector have increased by 11%, reaching 2469 million, while in the coaches they have fallen by 3% and have stood at 696 million, due to the difficulties in the supply chain “have made it impossible to deliver the volume of buses initially planned”.
The order-book has increased by 37%, reaching a record figure of 13,250 million euros, of which 12,301 correspond to the rail business (39% more) and 949 to the bus business (21% more).
