MEF: draft law on the tax regime for mypes will be sent within the next 60 days

The Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contrerasannounced this morning that his ministry will send to Congress within the next 60 days a bill of law on the reform of the tax regime for mypes. This with the aim of promoting formalization in these production units.

The senior official stressed that when the Executive requested the delegation of powers to the Legislature, this proposal was included, which, however, was denied. “Unfortunately, they did not give us that power, but we are going to work on the bill. We hope to send it around the next 60 days,” he said in Exitosa.

Safeguards application

In addition, he stressed that the reactivation of mypes is essential for the recovery of the national economy. He emphasized that with this purpose the Executive launched the Impulso Myperú plan, in addition to relaunching other initiatives such as Compras Myperú and the strengthening of the naval industry.

However, regarding the application of safeguards to Chinese imports, the main demand of micro and small textile entrepreneurs, the minister pointed out that this decision “will depend on what Indecopi says.”

For her part, Susana Saldaña, president of the Gamarra Peru Business Association, highlighted the importance of applying this measure to compete on an equal footing with foreign industry. She said that in recent years the entry of imported garments into the national market has doubled. “In 2016 we imported 200 million garments to Peru, last year we closed with 442 million garments. That means that in Peru as of December 2022 there were 11 garments for each Peruvian,” she said.
