The general director of Hydrocarbons, Carlos De Los Santos, assured that the commissioning of the largest oil field in the country will benefit the population of Loreto, affected by significant energy access gaps.
He Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced that the signing of the contract for Block 192 with Petroperú will take place before the fortnight of March. With this, a wait of almost eight months will end, since the state company received authorization to manage the largest oil reserve in the country, in July 2022.
During his presentation at the National Oil Reactivation Forum, organized in the Loreto region, the general director of Hydrocarbons, Carlo De Los Santos, said that the start-up of what was formerly known as Block 1AB will benefit the population in the area of influence, although recognized that the previous public officials did not correctly execute the canon left by the previous operators.
“We have an energy policy since 2010. What has been executed? For this reason, the problems with the populations, important gaps in access to energy. Much of this is the responsibility of the public official. In less than two months, we have allocated S/ 491 million with the aim of promoting the use of access to natural gas”, stated the head of the DGH.
De Los Santos assured, along these lines, that the gap-closing plan has resulted in the transfer of more than S/ 197 million and that the ministry, through FISE, has contributed to this purpose.
On the other hand, the official indicated that the New Talara Refinery (NRT), operated by Petroperú and destined to receive shipments of heavy crude from Block 192, is a source of pride for all Peruvians, as this is the seventh largest plant in the world. modern of its kind on the globe.
