The Association of Electric Power Companies and the bank employers’ associations will resort to the extraordinary profit rates approved by the Spanish Government. This tax could bring the Basque Country 400 million euros in two years.

Yesterday the employers of the AEB and CECA banks filed appeals before the National Court and today the association that brings together the main electricity companies in Spain (Iberdrola, Endesa and EDP) has announced its decision to also appeal before this judicial body.

Of the money raised in the Spanish State, Euskadi estimates to achieve 400 million in two years. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Azpiazu, hoped yesterday to have the first payment of that money by May, although at the moment the exact amount that will arrive in that first installment is unknown.
