As in Pamplona / Iruña, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Donostia-San Sebastián, the pensioners’ movement has called a march today in Bilbao, to be held this afternoon.
Thousands of pensioners have taken to the streets this Saturday in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Donostia-San Sebastián and Pamplona / Iruña to show their rejection of the pension reform bill in demonstrations in which one of the most popular slogans has been “! Escrivá resignation!”
As in the capitals of Alava, Gipuzkoa and Navarra, the movement of pensioners has called a march today in Bilbao, held this afternoon.
To the already traditional slogans “Not a step back, we are going to win this battle”, “Whoever governs the pensions will defend themselves”, was added this Saturday the one related to the request for the resignation of the Spanish Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, José Luis Escrivá.
In this sense, in the statement prepared for this mobilization, the pensioners believe that the bill only seeks to “maintain the cuts of the pension reforms of 2011 and 2013 and advance in Minister Escrivá’s project of working more and receiving less pension “.
For the convenors, the pension revaluation index contained in the project will mean the “year-on-year loss of purchasing powerFor this reason, the Movement of Pensioners of Euskal Herria asks the Spanish Government, the parties and the autonomous institutions to adopt the necessary decisions to meet their demands and that the bill be withdrawn.
“We will not accept any reform that does not include the urgent demands that we have been demanding for four years, “they warn in the statement, in which they recall that they are mobilizing for the repeal of labor and pension reforms, for a minimum pension of 1,080 euros, a Minimum Interprofessional Salary of 1,200, and for a 100% widow’s pension, among other approaches.

Finally, they emphasize that the pension system is “sustainable” and they want “clear accounts”, while defending that, in case of need, the payment of public pensions must be guaranteed from the State Budgets, without being a debt of Social Security, whose funds they reject that they can serve for private plans of companies or private pension macro-funds.
Therefore, they make it clear that if their demands are not responded to, they will continue to mobilize in the coming months.
In Pamplona, the demonstration started from the Plaza de Baluarte to end at the Plaza del Castillo after touring the center of the city with slogans in defense of public pensions and against their privatization and cuts. In Vitoria the protest has started from Artium, and in San Sebastián, it has done so from Alderdi Eder.
