An Electricity Bond is authorized for 4 million vulnerable households

A law was formalized to subsidize up to S/10 per month the electricity bills that the most needy families must pay during a quarter.

He Congress approved the delivery of a new Electricity Bond to help the most vulnerable Peruvians to pay their electricity bills.

Through Law No. 31688 —published this Wednesday in El Peruano— a one-time total subsidy of S/30 distributed in three receipts for up to S/10 will be granted for residential users who consume an average of up to 100 kilowatts per hour per month.

In general terms, the regulations specify that 4 million 964,871 households will benefit, and for this, electricity companies will have a maximum of 10 business days from the entry into force of the law to prepare the list of users who have the conditions to receive the subsidy.

To comply with said Electricity Bonus —a plan included in the program of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) as part of Impulso Perú— up to S/148 million 946,130 will be transferred from the budget for the public sector.
