Proposal to modify the law for the promotion of non-traditional exports advances; however, Adex has expressed his rejection.
The Labor Commission, chaired by the parliamentarian Sigrid Bazán Narro, approved the opinion in majority that proposes to modify the labor regime of non-traditional export workers. As Bazán argued, These workers do not have job stability and must, in many cases, renew their contract every 15 days.
The purpose of the proposal is to modify article 32 of Decree Law 22342, Law for the Promotion of Non-Traditional Exports, in order to incorporate non-traditional export workers into the labor regime of Legislative Decree 728, Labor Productivity and Competitiveness Law.
Thus, workers hired under this modality, who at the date of promulgation of the law, prove that they have provided five years of continuous services to a company in the area, become workers with an indefinite-term employment contract.
In this regard, the president of the Association of Exporters (ADEX), Julio Pérez Alván, stated that the proposal does not respond to the nature of the sector.
“The initiative of Congress is disastrous. The world faces a very complex panorama, other countries support their productive apparatus, but we see that the same is not happening in Peru. Initiatives that affect the competitiveness of companies and entrepreneurs continue to be proposed. Unemployment and informality will only be promoted”, commented Pérez Alván.
