The general coordinator of LAB, Igor Arroyo, has said that LAB does not trust “at all” in the will of the Basque Government to improve the current situation in Osakidetza, which is “very worrying”, and for this reason they have called demonstrations for February 25 “against the dismantling” of public health.

In an interview on Radio Euskadi, after lamenting the lack of a “strategic plan” to solve the “deficiencies” suffered during the pandemic, he denounced that, on the contrary, “privatizing services and denying union representation”.

In his opinion, the “credibility” of the Minister of Health, Gotzone Sagardui, is “quite depleted” and the discomfort with the management of the Basque Health Service is “generalized”.

On the other hand, it has considered that implementing exclusivity in health professionals is “a good measure”, since it seeks to “compensate” health personnel for their dedication to the public system. “We advocate a exclusiveness to be financially compensated”, he indicated, while acknowledging that what does not make sense is charging the supplement without exercising exclusivity.

Tax Reform

On the other hand, regarding the tax reform, he has ensured that any tax reform must “focus” on the taxation of capital income and corporate tax, but he regretted that, in this matter, both PNV and PSE they are “very accommodating with the employers”.

In this sense, Arroyo has stated that “greater progressivity is necessary and that the highest salaries pay more”, but has opted to “focus” on the taxation of capital income and corporate tax.

“When we hear the PNV and PSE-EE talk about tax reform, we often hear about the personal income tax reform in relation to earned income, which does have to be touched on, but above all, it is necessary to touch capital income and corporate tax and in that they are very accommodating with the Employers”, he has failed.
