Bonus for fishermen 2023: how do I know if I am a beneficiary of the S/500 and when can the subsidy be collected?

The Government made official, through an emergency decree, the so-called fisherman’s bonus 2023 equivalent to S / 500 that will be allocated to more than 36,000 formal artisanal fishermen. This economic aid forms part of one of the measures of the Ministry of Production with the purpose of promoting the fishing sector and the reactivation of the family economy of the plan ‘With Productive Punch’. At a press conference, the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contrerashe commented that from his portfolio coordination has already been carried out with the regional governments to prepare the register of beneficiaries. To make the subsidy effective, Produce’s National Fisheries Development Fund (Fondepes), the entity in charge of granting the extraordinary amount of S/500 to each user, manages a budget of S/18.8 million.

What are the requirements to access the fisherman bonus?

To be beneficiaries of this economic subsidy, artisanal fishermen must meet a series of conditions:

• It must be formally engaged in artisanal fishing activity in accordance with the provisions of numeral 1 of literal A of article 58 of the Regulations of the General Fisheries Law, approved by Supreme Decree No. 012-2001-PE.
• Be included in the Register of Beneficiaries of artisanal fishermen, referred to in article 4 of this emergency decree.
• Must not be benefiting from others social programs and/or economic subsidy.

Fisherman’s bonus: how long can it take to collect?

The State has a period of 30 calendar days to start paying the monetary support. This, because the norm provides 20 calendar days after the publication of the emergency decree to adjust the information of the register of beneficiary artisanal fishermen and another 10 for the beginning of the disbursement of the subsidy.

After the payment of the bonus to artisanal fishermen begins, the regulation provides 60 calendar days for this process. According to the decree, The term will be until April 30.

Where can I collect the fisherman bonus?

Other measures that will benefit fishermen

This provision has the purpose of doubling the amount of credits to grant them during this 2023.
