Dina Boluarte: New Talara Refinery will guarantee not to depend on fuel imports

The president also stated that the start-up of the refinery will reduce the domestic market’s dependence on fuel imports.

The president Dina Boluarte highlighted this midday that the start-up of the New Talara Refinery(NRT) will guarantee the fluid distribution of fuels nationwide. “The New Talara Refinery was launched, which marks a historic milestone for the hydrocarbons industry in our country, since the oil wells have returned to the national bosom and this will serve to guarantee the fluid distribution of fuel in healthy competition, surely, with the other companies”, he stated during the presentation of the balance of his first two months of government.

He also stated that the refinery will reduce the domestic market’s dependence on the importation of this product. “We have the guarantee of not depending on the importation of fuel. Through PetroperĂș we will be guaranteeing fuel at the national level and above all quality without having elements that highly pollute the environment,” he said.

NRT started production of biodiesel B5 less than 50 ppm (parts per million) of sulfur with a stable production of 30,000 barrels per day of diesel, this month and in March, as part of the startup tests. The volume will gradually increase until it reaches its maximum capacity of 41,000 barrels per day, PetroperĂș reported.

It should be noted that the New Talara Refinery is considered one of the most modern in Latin America with a capacity to process up to 95,000 barrels of oil per day.
