The first energy community of industrial companies in Gipuzkoa is created in Eibar

The initiative, called TEK Azitain, is promoted by the DEBEGESA Regional Development Agency and eight companies from Eibar participate in it, which thanks to the 347 photovoltaic panels that will be installed, will achieve an estimated saving of 25% on their annual electricity bill.

Eight companies from Eibar have come together to create a energy community of companies industrial, the first of these characteristics in Gipuzkoa.

The initiative, called Tek Azitain (Tokiko Energia Komunitatea), is promoted by the DEBEGESA Regional Development Agency and the companies of the Azitain industrial estate, it also has the support of the Basque Energy Entity (EVE), the Environment Department of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, the Eibar and Edinor City Hall.

The eight participating companies that have formed an energy community with its own legal entity are Acha Herramientas, Codesyntax, Hanna Instruments, Incubadora Eibargunea, Jose Maria Irazabal, Manufacturas Resort, Neurtek and Teleapostuak.

These companies will be able to generate and consume renewable energy thanks to the 347 photovoltaic panels that will be installed on the roof of the Azitain 3K polygon and will be able to obtain a estimated savings of 25% on your annual electric bill.

Booming energy communities

In recent months, numerous initiatives of this type have been launched, energy communities that seek energy self-sufficiency, reducing dependence on external sources and promoting sustainable renewable energy.

One of these initiatives is Ekiola, a project created as a result of public-private collaboration between the Basque Energy Entity and the promoting engineering firm KREAN, integrated into the Mondragon Corporation, which includes more and more institutional and citizen initiative cooperatives, all of them following a common strategy, that of promoting a more autonomous, participatory and sustainable consumption and management model.
