The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Azpiazuwas interviewed this Thursday on the Euskadi Irratia program “Faktoria”, where he analyzed current economic events.
On the one hand, and regarding the decisions that the United States is taking to give economic incentives to the companies that take the lead in “green investment”has opined that it is difficult to know what is happening there, although he has made it clear that they are taking many steps to help companies, and that Europe should follow the same path. “If we don’t, we run the risk of being left behind,” she pointed out.
Regarding the tax reform, he has said that they already have some measures in mind, but that he still cannot anticipate what will change and what will not. “We will have to see what the priorities are for the future, and for this we need resources. The political parties decided to support the tax reform. For this reason, now is the time to reflect, and to decide what steps we will have to take from now on”, he added.
However, the counselor has expressed his doubts regarding the tax burden of companies. He stated that they are “the engine of the economy”, and added that “we must be careful; our policy is to help companies. We have to comply with European regulations and we will have to wait and see what Europe will do with taxes”.
Regarding European funds, Azpiazu stressed that an important step has been taken because, from now on, the projects to be financed will be decided in the CAV, that is, “we will decide what to do with that money”.
Finally, he has spoken about inflation and the decision of the European Central Bank to raise interest rates. “The rise has to be done gradually; otherwise, the economy can suddenly stop,” she assured.
