The cost of excise taxes increases in Lima: what do the districts invest in with these payments?

More than 30 districts of Lima will increase the cost of taxes this year. Do you know what these resources are used for?

This 2023, 32 municipalities of Metropolitan Lima and callao their taxes will increase between 3% and 15%, compared to 2022. These taxes are fees paid for the maintenance of the public services in each district and are charged quarterly. In what are the taxes invested in the districts?

There are three sectors in which the excise what do you pay: public cleaning, divided into street sweeping and garbage collection; the maintenance of parks and gardens; and citizen security (or serenity).

However, in order to establish how much citizens should be charged for each of these sections, the rate is defined with certain variables. We detail them below:

How much is invested in taxes in districts of Lima?

Although there is no exact percentage that is invested in the districts for each concept, samples can be taken, according to some districts, and how they have distributed the proceeds in spending.

For example, in 2022, Lynx awarded andl 48% of these amounts (a total of S/18 million 434,107) to the concept of citizen security (serenazgo), 36% to public cleaning and 16% to the maintenance of parks and gardens.
