Despite the stoppage, 500 more barrels are produced in blocks now managed by Petroecuador

Despite the paralysis that surrounds oil blocks located in the province of Orellana, Petroecuador managed in this first month to maintain and somewhat increase the production of blocks 16 and 67 that it took over when the contract with the private company expired.

The state oil company reported that current production is 14,036 barrels of oil equivalent, which corresponds to 13,395 barrels of oil plus 641 barrels of oil equivalent. When it took over the operation of these blocks, on January 1, 2023, it did so with an audited production of 13,533 barrels per day.

Thus, in this first month that they are in charge, an increase of 503 barrels is registered and “the commitment and challenge assumed to maintain and increase the production of these blocks is being fulfilled with direct benefit for the State,” he said in a statement.

“Since the operation was taken over by Petroecuador, due to the income generated by the extraction of crude oil from these blocks, the Ecuadorian State stopped paying a fee, as was the case with the previous private operator and these resources enter directly into the coffers. prosecutors”, adds the state.

Within the management of this public oil company, tests began to take advantage of the plant’s capacity of 7,200 barrels of oil per day toppinglocated in this field to increase the load of crude oil and generate greater volumes of treated products destined to self-supply fuel for the oil fields, and reduce import amounts and transportation expenses.

The operation and ongoing projects are taking place, although the Dicaro community has been paralyzed, which is complaining about pending issues with the previous operator. The Ministry of Energy and Mines created an inter-institutional commission with various State portfolios for a comprehensive treatment of this conflict that the oil company maintains is inherited.

Because of this stoppage, Petroecuador carries out the air supply of inputs for the operation and the personnel that allows it to continue producing and not affect public income. Ensures that overflights are carried out outside the Tagaeri Taromenane Intangible Zone. This after this Waorani community denounced two weeks ago that the helicopter overflights of the state oil company in its territory could generate attacks by tagaeris and taromenanes (in voluntary isolation) on the Waorani.

The protest has been in place since December 25, 2022 and prevents the entry of workers, machinery and supplies to block 16, located in the province of Orellana.
