The president explained that the refining complex will reduce the risks of shortages.
President Dina Boluarte reported that the progressive start-up of the New Talara Refinery (NRT) is vital to reactivate the local fuel market with greater State participation.
Thus, he assured that the complex “will allow for a greater production of clean fuels to satisfy domestic demand,” in addition to contributing to the effort to “reduce the high dependence on imported fuels.”
Carlos Vives: “If they are assigned to us, we have no problem assuming 100% of the Talara lots”
The president added that the oil blocks surrounding the Refinery, such as I, VI and Z69 —an extension of Z2B—, will soon return to work at the expense of the State.
On this day, the fuel hydrodesulfurization unit was inaugurated to also improve the quality of the air “we breathe” and “reduce by almost 300 million dollars a year in health expenses due to pollution diseases.”
Finally, it is worth emphasizing that it is the mandate of the Government that Petroperú return to the Talara oil lots whose contracts are about to expire between this year and 2028.
