The owner of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contreras, announced that —due to the current context in the country and due to high inflation— his office has decided to postpone the adjustment of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) for some products until June of this year.
“Today, according to the current regulation, there was an adjustment in the ISC of some specific goods, but -considering the situation of the country and inflation, and considering that we want to aim at the reactivation-After signing the ministerial resolution that technically postpones that adjustment to the month of June. And in June we will evaluate, in due course, whether this measure is extended,” the official declared at a press conference from the Government Palace.
According to Contreras, the cost of this measure is S/100 million, which could have been borne by consumers or micro and small businesses (mypes), which are the most affected at the moment.
“I reaffirm, we are betting on the reactivation, this measure is going to have a cost of S/100 million, which would have been assumed by the consumers or the mypes. And the mypes are at the center of the economic reactivation of the country”, affirmed the head of the MEF.
