The staff of four of the five Bizkaibus concessionaires (Busturia Lea Artibai Bus, Ezkerraldea-Meatzaldea Bus, Vectalia Enkarterri and Vectalia Txorierri Mungialdea) will face a new 24-hour strike this coming Monday to request the update of the agreement. The exception will be Avanza Durangaldea which, after agreeing a salary increase around the CPI for this year in the agreement, will provide the service normally.
As reported by the UGT union, these four companies will mobilize “for a fair agreement and salary increases according to the CPI” so that “there is no discrimination between the workers of the different service concessionaires”.
The UGT representatives demand that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, as the person in charge of the Bizkaibus service, mediate in the negotiation.
In addition to the 24-hour strike, the staff of these concessionaires will demonstrate first thing in the morning in Bilbao. Vectalia Txorierri will demonstrate from Plaza San Pedro to the Palace of the Provincial Council, in Gran Vía, the place where the demonstrations of Ezkerraldea Meatzaldea (EMB) will arrive, which start from EITB and Busturia Lea Artibai (BLB), which starts from Juan of Garay (Urizar Tower). The workers of Vectalia Enkarterri join the other demonstrations, which will come together in front of the Palace of the Provincial Council, in Gran Vía, where they plan to arrive around 10:30 a.m.
“We continue without an agreement”, lamented the president of the Busturia Lea Artibai Bus committee, Oscar López, who predicted “a long conflict in Bizkaibus with the prejudice that this could cause citizens”.
