Brussels puts as a condition to receive European funds lengthening the period to calculate pensions

The Spanish Government and the European Commission have agreed on the conditions to be able to receive financial aid to face the crisis generated by the pandemic.

The Spanish Government has signed this Wednesday with the European Commission (EC) the agreement that establishes the conditions to be able to receive the first 10 billion euros of European funds aid against the pandemic, as reported by the Ministry of Finance.

This first disbursement will be added to the 9,036 million that Spain already received this summer in terms of pre-financing, and will come when Brussels confirms that all the milestones committed for the first half of 2021 have been met.

The pension reform It is one of the conditions that the Spanish Government must meet before the end of the year and the first part of which was already agreed with the social agents in July.

Brussels raises several requirements, including extend the number of years of contributions on which the amount of the pension is calculated.

This matter was controversial during the preparation of the plan almost a year ago, because a draft was circulated – whose existence was denied by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, JosĂ© Luis Escrivá – in which it was raised 25 to 35 years the calculation period.

The plan finally included the extension of the calculation period, but without specifying a specific number of years or clarifying whether it would be extended generally beyond 25 years.

So far, neither the Social Security nor the Ministry have wanted to clarify the details of this issue.
