MEF approves external loan of up to US$50 million with the IDB

The external debt is intended to partially finance the project “Improvement of the public supply service of goods, services and works”.

The Peruvian Government approved an external debt operation with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), for up to US$50 million. This was taken within the framework of Law 31367, “Public Sector Debt Law for fiscal year 2022”.

Thus, through Supreme Decree 012-2023-EF, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to use this amount to partially finance the investment project “Improvement of the public supply service of goods, services and works”.

Along these lines, the loan cancellation term is 15 years and six months, the regulations specify. This period of time will start counting from the date of signing the loan contract and the debt may be amortized in consecutive semi-annual installments. In addition, the contract also includes an eight-year grace period.

The operation has an interest rate based on the SOFR Rate and a margin that will be determined by the IDB, in accordance with its policy on interest rates. Likewise, it is subject to a credit commission on the undisbursed balance of the loan that cannot exceed 0.75% and that is established periodically according to the provisions of the Inter-American Development Bank.
