Government increases the cost of the FISE discount voucher in S/43 and S/63

Minem expects to reach more than 50,000 families in the Cusco, Ucayali, Piura and Tumbes regions.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) authorized Supreme Decree No. 002-2023-EM, which allows the increase in the FISE Discount Voucher that subsidizes the purchase of gas cylinders for domestic use (bottled LPG). This with the aim of benefiting households in a situation of vulnerability in the current situation of high prices of liquefied petroleum gas.

Thus, the Executive Branch approved the regulations that would allow provinces with natural gas fields in operation to receive a discount of S/43, while districts in the province of La Convención, in the Cusco Region, may acquire a discount of S/63.

In this line, the Minem estimates that more than 56,000 families in the Cusco, Ucayali, Piura and Tumbes regions that are far from supply points and have an average monthly electricity consumption equal to or less than 100 kWh.

On the other hand, users in the province of La Convención (Cusco), who previously received S/32, will now be able to receive the value for a value of S/63. This is in accordance with what was announced by the Minister of Minem in his meetings with authorities in the region.

Likewise, to date, the program implemented with resources from the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE) delivers a S/25 discount voucher to 940,499 beneficiaries nationwide, including soup kitchens, Qali Warma schools, and common pots.

Shortages in regions due to protests

It should be noted that some regions have a lack of fuel stock due to road blockades. In Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios, it has been reported that the gas cylinder is costing up to S/200. In addition, the only LPG bottling plant in the area, the company BIOGAS SAC, remains closed due to shortages.
