Congress: commission asks SBS to freeze debts of those affected by protests

The Consumer Defense Commission seeks to support businesses, enterprises and mypes that have been harmed by the stoppage of their commercial activities.

The head of the Consumer Defense Commission of the Congress of the republic, Elías Varas Meléndez, requested the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) that financial entities evaluate freezing, for a specific period, the collection of payment schedules for loans granted in places where trade has been closed, product of social demonstrations and that have been harming consumers and customers.

This action seeks to support businesses, enterprises, small and medium-sized companies that are being harmed by the closure of their commercial activities in order to safeguard their belongings due to the protests, which have a negative effect on their economic income.

In addition, this request was also formulated on January 21 by a group of authorities, producers and citizens to the agency of the BBVA bank of Andahuaylas, in Apurímac.

SBS incorporates improvements to its services

For its part, the SBS communicated that it has incorporated improvements to the Debt Report and Credit Alert services, continuing with the effort to offer services that respond to the needs of the users of the supervised systems and to the general public.

In the case of the Debt Report, the number of reports available has been increased from three to six, which can be viewed free of charge and consulted unlimitedly, the entity specified. It should be noted that the reports are updated every month and are published at the end of the following month.

For its part, the Credit Alert service will allow users to edit their personal information entered in the registration form. In this way, they will be able to update their phone number and/or email when they need it.

It should be remembered that the Credit Alert keeps users subscribed to this service informed about changes in their credit rating and when a new line of credit is registered, which makes it possible to detect eventual fraud situations.
