Metal unions will transfer to their affiliates the new agreement proposal of the Basque Government

CC.OO., LAB and UGT will take the proposal to the assembly as they see no setbacks. ELA, for its part, says that it is insufficient, although it does not rule out consulting with its affiliates.

The unions that make up the union majority at the negotiating table of the Bizkaia Metal Agreement have agreed to transfer to the assemblies of their respective affiliates the new proposal presented by the Basque Government at the third meeting of the mediation process between the parties promoted by the Executive of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

The unions that make up this majority, CC.OO. , LAB and UGT, have assessed that the new offer of the mediators “has no setbacks” and that “the advances that it includes are thanks to the struggle of the workers in the sector and the 11-day strike”, they indicate in a statement issued at the end of the meeting.

For this reason they have decided to transfer the new proposal to their affiliate assemblies so that they are the ones who decide on it.

The ELA union has indicated that there has been a “very slight variation” in the Executive’s proposal and it continues to “seem it insufficient and far from its objectives.” Union sources have assured that no decision has been made regarding whether they will take it to an assembly, although they acknowledge that they will have to speak with their members.

The new proposal of the mediators appointed by the Basque Government proposes an agreement for the period 2022-25 and a salary increase of 15% with a review clause according to the CPI for each year of validity of the collective agreement.

It also offers subrogation for facility personnel, the start of permits and licenses on a working day, and the enjoyment of what the jurisprudence establishes, as well as 8 hours of free disposal, 4 of them non-recoverable. It also includes improvements of up to 28,000 euros in disability and death insurance at work and the inclusion of LGTBEI+ people in harassment protocols.
