These are the Lakua and Zadorra centers, and the sovereignist coalition believes that with the money paid in excess, two other residences with the same characteristics could have been launched.
The EH Bildu Araba juntero group will denounce in the plenary session of control of the General Meetings of Álava next Wednesday that the contracts of the residences for the elderly Lakua and Zadorra represent “serious damage to public coffers”.
In a statement, the sovereignist coalition has stated that it carried out the interpellation last December as a result of the news published by a media outlet. Thus, the juntero of EH Bildu Luis Salgado denounced the extra cost of the construction and maintenance of these residences, awarded by the Provincial Council in 2009 and 2010 to both companies for a period of 40 years.
In Salgado’s opinion, these residences are having a approximate extra cost of “about 70 million eurosmoney with which the Provincial Council could have put into operation two other residences with the same characteristics”.
“The Provincial Council has paid an increasing fee for 40 years for these two centers for the elderly and has paid 31 million euros in a decade, despite the fact that the PNV promised in its day that this model would only increase the bill by 1,800 euros per year”, he added.
In the interpellation, EH Bildu will require the Provincial Council to execute the return clauses of the residence hall contracts so that they are exclusive property of the Council.
