The fuel trader Terpel (of Colombian origin and present in Ecuador, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Peru) reported growth in its three business lines in 2022 and in 2023 it plans to expand its coverage nationwide.
Regarding the sale of fuel at its service stations, growth was 5% and in the industrial segment 15%, while in the segments of lubricants and convenience stores it was in 12% and 131%, respectively. In addition, the company invested close to $7 million during the year, which were mainly used to advance in the renovation of its Altoque stations and stores, as well as the implementation of three Terpel Voltex fast charging charging stations, in Guayaquil and Quito.
Juan Manuel Martínez, general manager of Terpel Ecuador, highlights the results achieved, despite the complexity that 2022 represented for the country. “Not only have we managed to grow, but we continue to consolidate ourselves as benchmarks and strategic allies for the industry, so we have a very optimistic outlook for this new year, in which, even, we have projected ourselves to continue expanding our coverage”, he comments.
At the moment, the company has a presence in 15 provinces of the country: Azuay, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, El Oro, Guayas, Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Loja, Los Ríos, Manabí, Napo, Orellana, Pichincha, Santa Elena and Santo Domingo.
The company increased the volume of sales of industrial fuels, which according to Martínez, is due to the industrial reactivation and mobility that was evident in the post-pandemic country and to the differentiated products and support.
It grew its network of distributors in the Mobil lubricants segment, of which Terpel is an authorized distributor. And it also hopes to continue expanding its energy transition project Terpel Voltex, that “it has been essential for citizens to feel the peace of mind of being able to acquire an electric car, knowing that it has high-speed charging stations that solve their need for vehicle recharging. Our intention is to continue expanding the supply network as this vehicle park grows, with strategic points that interconnect the Coast with the Sierra”. (YO)
