The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will allocate more than S/98 million to the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) to finance complementary food care in favor of common pots, nationwide.
Through DU 002-2023, the Government seeks to benefit 3,355 common pots that serve 224,438 users daily. The Midis, through the Qali Warma National School Food Program, will purchase food for distribution to grassroots social organizations.
Food purchased by the national program will be delivered to warehouses or points determined by local governments, who will be responsible for proper and timely distribution.
The purpose of the emergency decree is to exceptionally provide for extraordinary measures, which contribute to the care of people in situations of poverty and/or vulnerability, self-organized in common pots, in order to mitigate the effects of the continuous and persistent increase in prices in the basic food basket.
In this sense, through the same decree, the Executive authorized Midis to grant, exceptionally, an extraordinary additional subsidy of S/200, S/250 and S/300, in favor of the poor and/or extremely poor people, users of the Juntos, Pensión 65 and Contigo social programs, respectively, to mitigate the effects of rising prices on the basic food basket.

The regulation states that the extraordinary additional subsidy will be granted to more than 1,400,000 users of the Juntos, Pensión 65 and Contigo social programs who receive the corresponding subsidies from the aforementioned programs by December 2022.
For said delivery, the Executive Branch authorized a transfer of items in the public sector budget for fiscal year 2023, up to the sum of S/329 million, in favor of Midis to finance the granting of the extraordinary additional subsidy.
The Midis is responsible for the adequate implementation of the granting of the extraordinary additional subsidy, as well as the use and destination of the resources included.
In addition, it is specified that the resources that are transferred within the framework of this emergency decree cannot be used, under responsibility, for purposes other than those for which they are transferred.
