Expansion of the Paita port terminal culminates in November

The works for the expansion of the marginal dock of the Paita port terminal in Piura will be concluded this November. The comprehensive project to improve the terminal includes an investment of 311.6 million dollars and is part of the portfolio of interventions of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). In this region, exports, the efficiency of the maritime facility and maritime transport between the ports of Paita and the Panama Canal will be promoted.

The conclusion of this work will boost the export of agricultural products such as grapes, bananas, squid, blueberries and other products from Piura which may be transported in vessels of up to 12,000 TEUs of capacity which transit through the Panama Canal.

This work seeks to enhance the Peruvian economy in order to improve the quality of life of its citizens. Likewise, the MTC reported that 8.7 million dollars have been invested in this expansion of the dock so that they can be served boats up to 330 meters in length (length) of the post panamax type.
