Lasso will participate in the World Economic Forum, in Switzerland

The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, left the country on Friday afternoon, from the Guayaquil Military Base, to travel to Europe in order to fulfill an agenda of activities in Spain and Switzerland.

The president’s first stop will be in Madrid where he will meet with Ecuadorian communities and with the representative of the Ibero-American General Secretariat. The theme of the second meeting will be that in 2024 Ecuador is expected to host the Ibero-American Summit of Nations, Lasso reported before boarding the presidential plane.

Later, Lasso will go to Davos (Switzerland) to participate in the World Economic Forum. There he will dialogue with international investors, to whom he will share the country’s economic achievements and promote the investment portfolio in strategic sectors, as well as in other areas, he indicated.

Within the framework of the Economic Forum, between January 16 and 20, the president will hold high-level meetings with world leaders, presidents of nations, representatives of multilateral organizations, businessmen, and academics from different regions, in order to identify opportunities for collaboration and strategic alliances, added the Secretary of Communication of the Presidency.

His wife María de Lourdes Alcívar will travel to Switzerland with the president; Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguín; the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julio José Prado; the Minister of Economy, Pablo Arosemena; and the Minister of the Environment, Gustavo Manrique.

Once the agenda in Davos is complete, the Head of State will travel to Vatican City to attend to an invitation from Pope Francis, who summoned him to attend an audience on Saturday, January 21.

“I will talk about Ecuador, the situation in the country, especially the challenges we have in generating employment, the fight against poverty and chronic child malnutrition,” said Lasso, whose return to the country is scheduled for January 22. (YO)
