Gasoducto Sur Peruano: they allocate an additional S/55 million to take care of the Odebrecht pipes

The Peruvian Government authorized the transfer of up to S/ 55 million 798,216 to maintain the care of the assets of the former South Peruvian Gas Pipeline (GSP)a work that has been paralyzed since 2017 after the disclosure of corruption by Odebrecht.

through the Emergency Decree 001-2023it is enabled to Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) to make the payment of the last deliverable of the service for the administration of the assets in the year 2022, the same as in accordance with the Seventh Extension Addendum, the submission deadline is January 10, 2023.

Erick García, former director of the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons (DGH), argued that the implementation of the gas pipeline is urgent as part of the country’s energy security scheme, which should consider, in addition to Sit-Gas, a coastal gas pipeline to consolidate an energy ring, a gas pipeline to the north and another to the center.

In order not to continue with this annual expense -just so that the tubes do not deteriorate while the trial ends-, García also considers natural gas liquefaction plants and decentralized fuel storage necessary to achieve the long-awaited energy self-sufficiency and reduction of emissions .

“The mechanisms are approved, the decision is yet to be made to guarantee accessible energy to all economic activities and for all Peruvians,” he said on his social networks.
