Midagri: S/386 million of the Fertiabono were distributed to 263,511 farmers in 2022

The Vice Minister of Development of Family Agriculture and Agrarian Infrastructure and Irrigation of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), Christian Barrantes, reported that, at the end of 2022, the Fertiabono was delivered to a total of 263,511 beneficiaries, out of an expected universe of 287,541.

During the last session of the Zero Hunger Commission, the official stated that this delivery represented an execution of S/385 million 923,582 million of the projected budget of S/421 million 601,080.

In this sense, the regions that received the most resources from Fertiabono in its first year of validity were Junín, San Martín, Cajamarca, Amazonas and Huánuco.

In number of beneficiaries, the region with the most farmers served was Junín (27,215), followed by Cajamarca (25,699), Huánuco (24,560), Puno (20,920) and Áncash (19,434).

Midagri: double island guano by 2023

On the other hand, Vice Minister Barrantes explained that, at the end of 2022, 15,356 MT of island guano were sold to 21,894 beneficiaries.

By 2023, it is projected to double this volume and market 29,778 MT, benefiting 38,175 new farmers who are beneficiaries of Midagri.

Finally, Barrantes Bravo assured that island guano is a substantial advantage in Peru to supply fields with organic fertilizers, but regretted that production had suffered a setback due to bird flu in recent months.

“Evidently, in the final part of the year, the presence of the influence of avian flu reduced the extraction. However, for this 2023 we plan to sell almost double ”, he highlighted.
