The National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) reported this Friday, April 22, that S/ 253.6 million were returned to a total of 196,000 individuals (independent and dependent workers) who timely submitted their Annual Income Tax Return 2021.

According to Sunatmany people, who were attended in less time than established, represent 86% of the total that will receive a refund, with which the total amount returned will rise to S/ 321 million, 40% more than what was returned during the campaign previous.

The beneficiaries of a refund are those people who had deductions in excess of Income tax by their employers during the 2021 financial year or made payments on account in excess of what was due.

Also those that during that period made deductible expenses supported by electronic payment receipts with IDin restaurants, bars and hotels, for professional services or trades, tourist services, craftsmen, contributions to It’s Healthby domestic workers and leases or subleases.

For this reason, when presenting their annual declaration this year they had a balance in their favor, which allowed them to request a refund virtually.

For greater ease, more than 90% of the refunds made by Sunat to workers were made directly through a deposit in their bank account, for which the taxpayer must have previously registered their Interbank Account Code (CCI). Other options, less used, are the Financial Payment Order (OPF) and the check.

Division

On the other hand, within the facilities granted to taxpayers, and in the current context of progressive recovery of economic activity, Sunat facilitated the deferral or installment of the tax debt for those taxpayers who requested it after submitting their Annual Income Statement 2021.

Thus, during this campaign, more than 45,000 applications for division were presented by Natural and Legal Persons for 273 million soles. Of this amount, around 43,000 requests have already been attended to in less than 5 days, representing 95% of the total.

This benefit allowed these taxpayers to maintain their compliance history and defer or split their tax debt, without compromising the progress of their business or economic activity.

Filing Statements

This campaign also registered a notable increase in the number of sworn statements filed, exceeding 418,000 million, according to data as of April 18, that is, approximately 300,000.

This result reflects the recovery of economic activity during 2021, as well as the effort of the Sunat to facilitate compliance with this obligation, allowing taxpayers to make their declaration through the web Sunat or the APP People, without the need to go to an office of the entity.

In the case of companies and natural persons, the virtual forms for the declaration already contained pre-filled information that the taxpayer could review, correct or confirm, making the declaration of the taxpayer simpler. Income tax.

At the company level, an increase of 26% was registered in the number of declarations, going from more than 640,000 in the 2020 campaign to 811,000 in the 2021 regularization campaign. A similar growth, of 30%, was registered in the case of natural persons, which went from 457,000 declarations to nearly 600,000.
